Electric Vehicle Running Costs

Electric Vehicle Running Costs

Did you know you can reduce your running costs by switching to an electric vehicle?

Making the switch to an electric vehicle (EV) isn’t just about reducing emissions—it can also mean lower running costs compared to a traditional petrol or diesel vehicle. Here’s how EVs stack up against internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles when it comes to the cost of ownership.

Fuel vs. Charging Costs

One of the biggest advantages of an EV is lower energy costs. Charging an EV at home can cost as little as a few pence per mile, especially when charging overnight on a lower electricity tariff. Public rapid charging can be more expensive, but it often remains cheaper than refuelling a petrol or diesel vehicle.

Servicing & Maintenance

EVs have fewer moving parts than ICE vehicles, meaning lower maintenance costs. With no engine oil, fewer fluids, and less wear on components such as brakes (thanks to regenerative braking), EVs generally require less servicing.

  • EVs: Fewer mechanical parts mean reduced servicing costs. On average, maintenance costs can be up to 30-50% lower than ICE vehicles.*

  • ICE Vehicles: Regular servicing is required for oil changes, exhaust systems, timing belts, and more—leading to higher lifetime maintenance costs.

Government Electric Vehicle Grant

The government has announced information of a new Electric Car Grant to further accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles, the EV grant is focused on reducing the cost of the vehicle’s purchase price.

This significant Gov investment is planned and available on a first come, first served basis. Once more information and pricing becomes available we will update this page. In the meantime, if you would like to book a test drive please use the link below
