In a similar fashion to London, both Birmingham and Leeds amongst several cities are looking to introduce Clean Air Zones (CAZ).
The CAZ area for Birmingham has been approved by the Government and comes into force from January 2020, the map on the left shows the proposed Zone. From this date, depending on the vehicle type you could be charged to drive within the CAZ. For more information on the Birmingham CAZ, please see the Clean Air Zone for Birmingham website.
Leeds have taken a slightly different approach. The CAZ as proposed currently does not charge for private cars, LGV's, vans or motorcycles, however it is indicative that cities across the UK are looking closely at air quality. Depending on the Cities individual CAZ requirements, vehicles that meet Euro 6 emission requirements should be something that you consider when purchasing your next car or CV.
